Oil prices fell in the global market for the third consecutive day.
Bangla Press Desk: Despite a fresh escalation of conflict in the Middle East, global oil prices have fallen by nearly 1 percent. On Friday (September 18), fuel oil prices declined for the third consecutive day; however, the price per barrel remains above $100.
According to an Al Jazeera report, as of 00:20 GMT on Friday, the price of the international benchmark Brent crude fell by $1.01—or 1 percent—to $103.77 per barrel. During the same period, the price of US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped by $1.03—or 1 percent—to $100.88. Prices for both types of oil had also fallen by approximately 1 percent on Thursday.
Fresh cross-border airstrikes occurred on Thursday involving Saudi Arabia and Houthi rebels from Yemen, raising concerns that the conflict in the Middle East could widen.
However, there have been no major concerns regarding oil supplies to the market. Traders believe it may be possible to maintain supply by utilizing alternative routes for transporting oil from the Middle East. This expectation has largely overshadowed fears of a potential supply crisis.
