Only BNP’s victory can save nation from collapse: Tarique

Bangla Press Desk:  BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday urged party members to mobilise public support and secure victory in the next general election, warning that only a mandate for the party’s electoral symbol, “Paddy Sheaf,” can save the nation from collapse.

“Time has come to step out of our homes, reach the people, and garner their support to secure victory for the party and save the nation,” Tarique said while addressing an event virtually in Dhaka.

Speaking on the fourth day of BNP’s seven-day programme, “Plan to Build the Nation”, held at Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (KIB) Convention Hall, he called on party members to “fight for the people and the nation” to prevent its collapse.

Mega projects breed mega corruption

Claiming that BNP alone has a comprehensive roadmap for national progress, Tarique criticised the government’s reliance on mega projects.

“Mega projects mean mega corruption. If we come to power, we will not undertake any mega projects but will instead prioritise state resources for education, health, and human rights,” he said.

He added that while the government has initiated many projects, real development has eluded the country. “Our roadmap will be implemented if the people entrust us with their mandate in the upcoming general election.”

Protecting human rights and equality

Highlighting the deterioration of human rights under the Awami League, Tarique said BNP aims to prevent future violations, emphasising that every individual has an inherent right to live independently.

“BNP will ensure equal dignity for all people, irrespective of class or profession,” he said, adding that the party will introduce processes for this, which the next generation will continue.

Women’s empowerment and social welfare

If elected, BNP plans to issue family cards to women to ensure financial empowerment, aiming to strengthen the nation’s economic structure.

The party also intends to issue farmers’ and health cards, take urgent environmental measures, create jobs for youth, and expand the export of agricultural products. Tarique urged party members to communicate these plans directly to the public.

“We must convince the people with our roadmap; there is no alternative,” he said, with BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in the chair.

Leaders from Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal attended the event from across the country.
