Outbreak claims nearly 750 lives as measles cases surge
Bangla Press Desk: Two children died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours till 8am on Thursday morning, and no death from confirmed measles was reported over the same period, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
One child died in Dhaka division and the other one in Sylhet division.
With the latest fatalities, the total death toll from confirmed and suspected measles cases has reached 747 – only three short of the grim 750-mark.
During 8am Wendesday-8am Thursday, 946 people have been diagnosed with measles and symptoms: 818 with symptoms and 128 with confirmed measles infections.Since 15 March, 1,08,998 people have been diagnosed with measles-like symptoms or suspected measles. Among them, 92,031 were hospitalised, 88,419 of whom have returned home following recovery.
Since 15 March, 13,198 people have been diagnosed with confirmed measles.
Since 15 March, 654 children have died from measles-like symptoms and 93 other children have died from confirmed measles.
