Palak, Inu shown arrested in July uprising murder case
  Bangla Press Desk:   A Dhaka court has approved a plea to show former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu as arrested in a murder case linked to the July uprising. On Thursday (24 July), Senior Judicial Magistrate Tazul Islam Sohag issued the order, Palak’s lawyer Farzana Yasmin Rakhi confirmed. The investigation officer, Sub-Inspector Md Anwar Hossain of Ashulia Police Station, produced Palak before the court and sought an order to show him arrested in connection with the killing of one Md Russel Gazi. Following a hearing, the court granted the request. Speaking after the hearing, lawyer Rakhi said Palak is spending his time in jail by regularly reading the Quran and has reportedly completed a full recitation. “He is suffering slightly from back pain,” she added.
According to case documents, Russel Gazi, 27, was protesting in the Gazirchat area of Ashulia on 5 August last year during the July uprising. He sustained gunshot wounds allegedly fired by Awami League activists and later died while undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar. The victim was the son of Belayet Gazi and Selina Begum of Gazirchat Madhyapara. Palak had previously been arrested on 15 August last year. Since then, he has been shown arrested and placed on remand in several cases related to murder, attempted murder. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
