‘Palak was in favor of the student movement in July,’ claims lawyer in court
BanglaPress Desk: Former State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak—who faces accusations of crimes against humanity—supported the student movement in July, claims his lawyer, Advocate Farzana Yasmin Rakhi.
She stated that the former State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, was in favor of the ‘quota reform movement’ during the student protests in July.
She made this claim while speaking to the media on Monday (October 26) following a hearing at a Dhaka court regarding a murder case filed at the capital’s Mohammadpur Police Station, which occurred during the student-led protests of July–August 2024.
Palak’s lawyer noted that Zunaid Ahmed Palak’s name did not appear in the First Information Report (FIR) of the case. She asserts that Palak is innocent and that, during the July student protests, he actually took the side of the students involved in the anti-quota movement.
However, these claims by the lawyer could not be independently verified. The matter may become clearer once further details emerge regarding the allegations in the case, the court’s observations, and the statements of other involved parties.
