'Patience over pressure: Rana should not be rushed back'

Bangla Press Desk:  Former Bangladesh skipper Khaled Mahmud Sujon stated that it is better to give rest to Nahid Rana if the injury concern is a major one.

The former Bangladesh Cricket Board director said this on Friday during the opening of a cricket academy at Old Dhaka.“I believe that if the injury is significant, he should be given time to recover rather than having him play in the Australia series,” he noted.

Mahmud believes despite injuries being a common thing for the fast bowlers, Bangladesh will be disadvantaged if they miss Rana’s services.

“If Nahid is unable to play due to injury, and injuries among fast bowlers are actually a common occurrence, it would certainly be a setback for us,” he further explained.

However, he still puts his trust on the other members of the Test squad ahead of the series Down Under.

“It would be great if he (Rana) plays, but even if he doesn't, the others in the squad are capable enough (to deliver),” he concluded.
