People won’t accept conspiracy to disrupt elections: Mirza Fakhrul

Bangla Press Desk: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that the people will not accept a 'conspiracy to disrupt elections' through violent acts.

He said this in a statement condemning the shooting incident of Union BNP leader Hasan Molla in Keraniganj on Thursday night.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “We strongly condemn and protest against this heinous and barbaric attack. The people of the country will never accept any conspiracy to disrupt the country's elections and stop the democratic journey through such violent acts. Democracy-loving people will unite against all conspiracies, InshaAllah.”

On Thursday night, around 9 pm, Hazratpur Union BNP general secretary Hasan Mollah was shot in front of the BNP office in Ward No. 9 of Keraniganj Union on the outskirts of the capital. He was later admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

He was shot in the right side of his stomach, said Medical Police Outpost Inspector Md. Faruk.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident and bringing the culprits to justice.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the country, he said, “The lives and security of the common people are under extreme threat today. It is necessary to bring this terrible situation under control immediately.”
