‘Play good cricket’: Tait simplifies message for decider
Bangla Press Desk: Ahead of the series decider against Ireland, Bangladesh pace bowling coach Shaun Tait emphasized clarity and avoiding unnecessary complications, insisting the hosts simply need to show up and “play good cricket” to win the game and the series on Monday, following the team’s practice session at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium.
“I think we don't need to complicate our thoughts too much,” he said when asked about the final match on Thursday. “I think we just need to play good cricket and win the game. Every time you win a match, every time you win an international match, you gain some confidence out of that,” he added.
This ongoing series will be the last bilateral T20 assignment for Bangladesh before the all-important World Cup in February. Bangladesh will look to seal the series before heading into a break and then the BPL.
“The best thing we can do is play well, building on the confidence from our last match that we won, and take that into tomorrow's match. Hopefully, we win. If we secure a win, that's the best thing to carry with us into the break. Therefore, I don't think we need to complicate our thoughts too much,” Tait explained.
The former Australian quick also shared his views on Ireland’s performance throughout the first two matches of the series, noting that they have batted better than Bangladesh on both occasions.
“Ireland has played some good cricket and they've got some good players. They look like they've got a really organized T20 team,” he said.
However, Bangladesh are happy to test themselves as the bigger goal remains preparing for the main event in February.
“For us, we want the good challenge. That's what we want. Our next series is a World Cup, and it doesn't get any bigger than that for T20 cricket,” he concluded.
