PM wraps up US visit, returns home

Bangla Press Desk:  Prime Minister Tarique Rahman returned home on Sunday after attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Emirates flight EK-582 carrying the prime minister, his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and members of his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 8:21am, his Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shipul said.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Chief Whip of Parliament Nurul Islam Moni, Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, MP SM Jahangir, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, among others, welcomed the prime minister at the airport.

Earlier, the Emirates flight carrying the prime minister left John F Kennedy International Airport in New York for Dhaka via Dubai at 11:30 pm local time on September 25.

After a stopover in Dubai, the flight departed Dubai International Airport for Dhaka at 2:15 am local time.

During his four-day visit to New York, the prime minister attended 30 official programmes, including bilateral meetings with 11 countries, according to Mahdi Amin, adviser to the prime minister and spokesperson for his office.
