Polo Ground echoes with ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ and ‘Tarique Rahman’

Bangla Press Desk:  Ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary elections, a massive crowd has converged at Chattogram’s historic Polo Ground for the election rally of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The BNP Chairman is scheduled to address the rally as the chief guest on Sunday.

After nearly 20 years, Tarique’s visit to Chattogram has generated great enthusiasm among party leaders and activists. The entire field and key areas of the city have become vibrant with banners, festoons, and party slogans.

Since this morning, leaders and activists have taken positions not only at the rally venue but also along the surrounding roads. From areas such as Tiger Pass, Dewan Hat, Agrabad, CRB, WASA, Old Railway Station, Kadamtali, Kazir Dewri, Riazuddin Bazar, and New Market, BNP leaders and activists have been marching in small processions along nearly one and a half kilometers of road leading to the rally venue.

The Polo Ground and its surrounding areas are bustling with the footsteps of thousands of people, creating a festive atmosphere. The entire area is now echoing with slogans of “Sheaf of Paddy” and “Tarique Rahman.”

In the processions, BNP leaders and activists were seen carrying various placards and the party symbol, the sheaf of paddy, while chanting different slogans as they headed toward the Polo Ground.

Earlier, from Saturday afternoon, leaders and activists began arriving at the rally venue. Many stayed overnight at the field. As a result, most of those arriving this morning have had to stand on the surrounding roads.

From this stage, Tarique will formally introduce the party candidates from various constituencies of Chattogram to the public. In addition, according to senior local BNP leaders, he will provide important guidance to party leaders and activists regarding the upcoming election and the ongoing political situation.

Meanwhile, strict security measures have been taken across Chattogram city in connection with Tarique’s visit and the rally. Members of law enforcement agencies, including police and RAB, are visibly active. Multi-layered security has been ensured at and around the rally venue.

It is worth noting that on Saturday night, Tarique arrived in Chattogram by air and held meetings with city leaders later that night.

In the morning, Tarique is scheduled to participate in a “Youth Policy Talk” with three hundred students from various universities at a city hotel. From there, he will attend the election rally at the Chattogram Polo Ground.

After the Chattogram rally, on his return to Dhaka by road, he is also scheduled to take part in election road meetings in several districts, including Feni, Cumilla, and Narayanganj.
