President Pays Tribute to Khalidi as Journalism Pioneer

Bangla Press Desk:  President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has mourned the death of bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi, describing him as a pioneer in the growth of online and digital journalism in Bangladesh.

In a condolence message, he prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and extended deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

“The country has lost an experienced, gentle and distinguished media personality with his death. His contribution to journalism and the media will be remembered for a long time,” the president said.

The president recalled his personal memories with Khalidi with deep reverence, calling his death an immensely painful loss.

"I am profoundly saddened and grieved by his death," he said.

Khalidi, who pioneered bringing Bangladesh's news services into the digital world, passed away at 2:23pm London time on Friday.

He had been admitted to a London hospital on Thursday night after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
