‘Prince’ shooting begins in Dhaka

Bangla Press Desk:   Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan-starrer much-anticipated Eid film “Prince” has finally gone into production, putting an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding the project. Due to plans for overseas shooting and visa complications, there had been widespread doubt about whether filming would begin at all. However, overcoming all hurdles, the shooting of “Prince” commenced in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Abu Hayat Mahmud, who has previously directed more than two hundred fiction and documentary films, is stepping into film production for the first time with “Prince”. The movie is being produced under the banner of Creative Land Films, with Shirin Sultana serving as producer.

According to sources involved with the project, the team will shoot in Dhaka for four days before moving to Sri Lanka, where the remaining portions will be filmed. While other cast members began shooting on Tuesday, Shakib Khan is expected to join the overseas schedule from next week.

Earlier, rumours circulated that Prince was inspired by the life of Kala Jahangir, a notorious Dhaka underworld figure from the 1990s. Director Abu Hayat Mahmud has firmly dismissed these claims, clarifying that the film is not based on the biography of any real individual and that such reports are purely speculative.

Aiming for a release during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Prince features three leading actresses-Jyotirmoyee Kundu, Tasnia Farin and Sabila Noor-opposite Shakib Khan. The ensemble cast also includes Nasir Uddin Khan, Rashed Mamun Apu, Intekhab Dinar, Ejajul Islam and Sharif Siraj, among others.
