Private jet with eight onboard crashes
Staff Reporter: A private jet with eight people on board crashed Sunday at Bangor International Airport in Maine, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.
A Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed “as it was taking off” from the airport at approximately 7:45 p.m. EST, according to the FAA.
The conditions of the eight people on board were not immediately clear as of Sunday night.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, the agency added.
The crash took place as the East Coast was pummeled this weekend by a massive winter storm that has caused significant flight delays and cancelations.
Aimee Thibodeau, an airport spokesperson, told The New York Times in a statement that the airport was closed as emergency crews were responding to the crash. The statement did not provide further details about the crash, the Times noted.
