Provide proof if there is a rickshaw registered in my name: Mia Golam Parwar
Bangla Press Desk: In response to remarks made by Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said, "Let alone 700–800 rickshaws—prove that I own even a single rickshaw."
He made this statement in a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday (October 9).
The Jamaat Secretary said, "Their actions reveal just how depraved, unprincipled, and devoid of conscience those people can be—and how low the level of decency in their speech can sink—when they fail to counter political ideology with ideology, character, and morality. For the past few days, a motivated group has been spreading propaganda using fake photo cards. Yet, a man who does not own even a single rickshaw is being accused of owning 700–800 rickshaws! Such propaganda has left people astonished and bewildered."Golam Parwar remarked, "What is left to say when even a politically appointed administrator of the Dhaka City Corporation keeps repeating the same claims based on such false information? It is a situation akin to 'popping puffed rice when there is nothing else to do'—an exercise in futility. Can any educated, decent person of integrity engage in such falsehoods? I feel great pity for them witnessing their political bankruptcy; I am deeply saddened on their behalf."
The Jamaat Secretary added, "Then there are those so-called members of civil society who appear on talk shows—individuals eager to curry favor with the ruling party through sycophancy and flattery, hoping to secure positions or promotions. They, too, spin false narratives based on this misinformation—stories that strike the public as both distasteful and ridiculous."
Miya Golam Parwar said, "If someone were to label me the owner of 700 or 800 rickshaws, what else is there to do but laugh it off? I have stated before: I do not need 700 or 800 rickshaws; if anyone can prove that even a single rickshaw exists in my name—anywhere in Bangladesh, in any city—that alone would suffice. Despite all these tall tales circulating for so long, and with the government possessing so many agencies and departments, they have failed to locate even one rickshaw registered to me! They simply keep spinning yarns. Do you not feel any sense of shame in peddling such baseless stories?"
The Jamaat Secretary concluded, "Those who are active on social media in highlighting the truth, and who wish to enrich journalism with factual accuracy—countering yellow journalism and false propaganda—should play a significant role in this regard."
