RAB takes steps to enhance security cooperation with Bashundhara authorities
Bangla Press Desk: A coordination meeting on security in Bashundhara Residential Area was held between representatives of Rapid Action Battalion-1 (RAB-1) and EWPD Land on Monday (20 July).
The meeting, held in the Bashundhara Residential Area, was attended by Major (retd) Md Mahabubul Wadud, executive director and head of security at EWPD and BS; RAB-1 Commanding Officer Lt Col Neyamul; Deputy Commanding Officer Lt Commander Zakiul; EWPD Land General Manager Kazi Habibur Rahman; ASPs of RAB-1 Md Shah Alam and Md Mushfiq; Assistant General Manager (EWPD Land) Captain (retd) Fahim Ahmed Khan; and other members of the Bashundhara security team.
The meeting discussed ensuring overall security in the densely populated residential area with the cooperation of the administration.
Participants stressed the need for comprehensive cooperation from the Bashundhara management authorities and coordinated efforts to maintain law and order.
The two sides agreed to work together to maintain a normal law-and-order situation and took several decisions on security measures.
Under the decisions, RAB and Bashundhara authorities will conduct joint patrols to prevent incidents such as theft and snatching in the residential area. Steps will also be taken to prevent drug use, with the Bashundhara authorities agreeing to provide RAB-1 with full cooperation in identifying places and times of drug use as well as drug users and dealers.
The meeting also discussed the issue of students and young residents riding motorcycles fitted with modified silencers, creating excessive noise and causing fear among residents.
Law enforcement agencies and the Bashundhara authorities will work jointly to address the issue, while mobile courts will be deployed monthly or fortnightly to take punitive action.The participants also expressed concern over planned fights involving students and others, which create a sense of mob fear and disrupt public order. RAB and Bashundhara authorities will conduct active joint patrols to prevent such violence and mob-related incidents.
To curb online gambling, servers and control rooms involved in such activities will be identified and deactivated. An automatic traffic signalling system will also be introduced with the cooperation of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to ease traffic congestion in the area.
RAB and Bashundhara authorities will also work to discourage university students from engaging in activities that violate the law. In this regard, the Bashundhara authorities will coordinate with senior officials of the relevant universities and take necessary decisions.
