Rashed Khan Alleges Behind-the-Scenes Ties Between Oli and Masud Karim

Bangla Press Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's Political Assistant, Rashed Khan, has made explosive allegations against Colonel (Retd) Oli Ahmed, claiming the veteran politician had maintained ties and financial dealings with Masud Karim, whom he described as an intelligence agency operative.

The remarks came in response to Colonel Oli's recent comments predicting the fall of the BNP-led government within a week.

In a post published on his verified Facebook account shortly after midnight on Monday, Rashed Khan said he had raised the issue of Colonel Oli's alleged relationship with Masud Karim after the latter threatened the government's stability.

"Mr Colonel Oli Ahmed, after you threatened that the BNP government would collapse within a week, I brought forward reports—previously published in various newspapers—regarding your closeness and dealings with intelligence agency agent Masud Karim. If you have the courage, say publicly that you never had any relationship with Masud Karim," he wrote.

Rashed also accused Colonel Oli of making what he described as "disgraceful remarks" about his parents after failing to tolerate criticism.

"Since then, he has lost even the minimum qualification to deserve respect. Even so, I will continue to address him respectfully," he said.

Responding to allegations that he was an agent of India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) or Israel's Mossad, Rashed rejected the claims, saying:

"When we were beaten and faced cases for resisting foreign dominance in Bangladesh, you compromised with Hasina's intelligence agencies and fell into a trap that weakened the opposition's movement."

He further alleged that Colonel Oli had demanded a larger share of parliamentary seats from the BNP to facilitate concessions to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

According to Rashed, the BNP investigated the proposal and concluded that allocating additional seats to weaker candidates would ultimately allow Jamaat to gain control of those constituencies.

"Your later decision to join the Jamaat alliance proved that you were working in Jamaat's interests. That means the BNP's assessment was correct," he claimed.Speaking about his own background, Rashed said he came from a working-class family and was the only university graduate among his extended relatives.

"By the infinite mercy of Allah, despite being the son of a labourer, I studied at the University of Dhaka. I am the only graduate in my extended family. From 2018 to 2024, I tried my utmost to serve as a frontline fighter in the struggle against fascism," he wrote.

Concluding his post, Rashed launched another sharp attack on Colonel Oli, saying:

"You are the worst and most practical example of how people lose their sense of judgement after joining Jamaat."

The allegations were made on Rashed Khan's verified Facebook account. Colonel Oli Ahmed had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of filing this report.
