Russian ambassador holds courtesy meeting with Jamaat chief
  Bangla Press Desk: Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander G Khokholin paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at his office in Bashundhara at 11am on Thursday. At the outset of the meeting, the ambassador inquired about Shafiqur’s health and wished him a full recovery. He was accompanied by Political Counsellor Anton Chernov. The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on the prevailing situation in Bangladesh, bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Russia, investment opportunities, and international relations. The ambassador expressed Russia’s firm support for Bangladesh and voiced optimism that Russian investment in the country would increase in the future. The envoy also extended an invitation to Shafiqur to attend an upcoming international Islamic conference in Moscow, which the Jamaat chief accepted. Jamaat Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Dhaka North City Jamaat’s Ameer Dr. SM Khaliduzzaman, and Jamaat’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Professor Mahmudul Hasan were also present at the meeting.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
