Saudi Arabia has shot down three drones over the Riyadh sky.
Bangla Press Desk: The Saudi-led military coalition has shot down three more drones over Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki announced this information on Tuesday (October 13).
However, he did not provide details regarding where the drones were launched from or which facilities in Riyadh were targeted.
Over the past week, there have been multiple ballistic missile and drone attacks on Riyadh from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. Among these, the attack last Sunday was the deadliest; a ballistic missile struck a terminal at Riyadh airport, killing 12 people and injuring over 300. Two Bangladeshis were among the deceased, and four other critically injured Bangladeshis are currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
**Saudi Crown Prince Declined Israeli Assistance Against Houthis**
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had offered to assist Saudi Arabia in its military campaign against Yemen's Houthi rebels. However, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman did not agree to the proposal. It is reported that he rejected the offer out of concern that accepting Israeli assistance could spark discontent among the Saudi public.
The Israeli newspaper 'Haaretz' published this information on Tuesday, citing a diplomatic source.
According to the source, Netanyahu proposed launching attacks on the Houthis to aid Saudi Arabia through US mediators. This initiative was reportedly aimed at deepening ties with Saudi Arabia and establishing formal diplomatic relations between the two nations in the future.
However, the Saudi Crown Prince feared that such military cooperation with Israel could trigger a negative reaction among the general public. The report states that this was the reason he did not agree to the proposal.
In 2020, Israel established diplomatic relations with Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco under the Abraham Accords. However, normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia remains one of the country's primary objectives. Israel has long been striving to establish direct relations with this important and influential nation in the Islamic world. US President Donald Trump and Netanyahu have also been taking initiatives to further expand the scope of the Abraham Accords. Source: Anadolu Agency
