Scaloni to stay in Argentina; agreement finalized

Bangla Press Desk: Following the 1-0 defeat to Spain in the final of the most recent World Cup, Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni hinted at stepping down from his position. Much has transpired since then, and now, the World Cup-winning coach has agreed to continue in his role.
Scaloni has reached an agreement on a new contract to remain as the head coach of the Argentina national football team, with the deal set to run for two years—until 2028. The agreement with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) also includes an option to extend the tenure through the 2030 World Cup.
According to reports from the *Buenos Aires Times*, citing the news agency *Noticias Argentinas* and the Argentine media outlet *Perfil*, this development has come to light.
These reports indicate that any extension of the contract until 2030 would be contingent upon the mutual consent of both Scaloni and the Argentine Football Association. The 48-year-old coach had been contemplating his future, and during the most recent international break, he held discussions with AFA president Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia. Media outlets report that the talks concluded successfully after both sides reached an understanding regarding the terms of the contract and financial details.
No official announcement yet
The Argentine Football Association has not yet made an official announcement regarding the new contract with Scaloni. In their most recent statement on the matter, they only mentioned that discussions concerning a potential extension had begun.
According to media reports, the new agreement could be officially announced within the next few days, or during the upcoming international break scheduled for November 9–17. Scaloni has been at the helm of the Argentina national team since 2018. Under his leadership, Argentina has won two Copa América titles, the 2022 Finalissima, and the Qatar World Cup—ending a long wait for the nation to reclaim the World Cup trophy.
