Security beefed up in capital
Bangla Press Desk: The government has beefed up security across the capital by deploying additional number of army personnel, RAB members, BGB members and policemen at crucial points.
Enhanced security measures were spotted in Dhanmondi, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, InterContinental Dhaka intersection, and Airport area on Friday.
A tense situation prevails in the city as different groups voice their anger on the streets at the death of July Uprising participant Sharif Osman Hadi in Singapore.
Since morning demonstrations have grown in different parts of the capital and across the country, demanding the arrest of the killers.
Dhanmondi Police Station Sub-Inspector Khalilur Rahman told reporters policemen were deployed near the Chhayanaut building in Dhanmondi since morning.
Separately, a BGB statement said additional personnel have been deployed near the hotel InterContinental Dhaka, Kawran Bazar and Airport area ahead of the expected arrival of Hadi’s body on a Biman Bangladesh flight.
