Shadik Kayem secures victory over Umama Fatema at Rokeya Hall
  Bangla Press Desk:   Results of 18 halls under 8 polling centers in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections have been announced. In these results, the vice-president (VP) candidate of the United Student Alliance Abu Shadik Kayem has secured a total of 14,042 votes. In addition, SM Farhad is leading for the position of General Secretary (GS), and Mohiuddin Khan is on the way to winning the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) post. Now only the formal announcement remains. In the voting at Rokeya Hall, the much-discussed independent candidate Umama Fatema lost to Shadik Kayem. She got a total of 3,389 votes. At Rokeya Hall, Shadik Kayem secured the highest number of votes for the VP position, obtaining 1,472 votes. Meanwhile, Umama Fatema got 614 votes; Abidul Islam got 575 votes; and Shamim Hossain got 684 votes.
For the GS position at this hall, S.M. Farhad got 1,120 votes. Other candidates got the following votes: Arafat Chowdhury – 664, Megh Mallar Basu – 780, Tanvir Bari Hamim – 447, and Abu Bakar Mojumdar – 241. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
