Shibir's VP candidate leading JnUCSU election race
Bangla Press Desk: Riyazul Islam, Chhatra Shibir’s vice president candidate in the JnUCSU election, is leading the race following the announcement of results from 26 out of 38 polling centres.
Riyazul is leading his nearest rival, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s (JCD) AKM Rakib, by 351 votes, announced the Election Commission for Jagannath University Central Students' Union (JnUCSU) at 7:30pm.
Previously, results from 20 centres showed Rakib leading Riyazul.
In the 26 centres, Riyazul has bagged 3,364 votes, while Rakib has won 3,013 votes.
Shibir-backed candidates continue to lead the race for two other top posts.
Abdul Alim Arif, general secretary candidate from Shibir-led “Odommo Jabian” panel, has won 3,489 votes, while Khadizatul Kobra, the rival candidate from JCD-led “Oikkhobodhho Nirbhik Jabian” panel, has won 1,379 votes.
Shibir-backed candidate Masud Rana has won 3,106 votes for the assistant general secretary post, while JCD-backed candidate BM Atiqur Rahman Tanjil has won 2,677 votes for the same post.
