Shooting at Chattogram concert over ‘Joy Bangla’ slogan

Bangla Press Desk: A shooting incident occurred at a concert in a convention center near GEC intersection in Chattogram on Saturday night over slogans of “Joy Bangla”, leaving one person seriously injured.
The victim, identified as Md Sharif, 23, sustained bullet injuries and was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
The clash broke out around 8:30 pm during a concert organised by a motorcycle manufacturing company, where popular metal band Artcell was scheduled to perform. The event, open to the public, was later postponed amid chaos and vandalism.
Witnesses said the clash began when a group, reportedly members of the Chhatra League, chanted slogans of “Joy Bangla,” prompting protests from Chhatra Dal activists. The confrontation escalated, and police allegedly opened fire to bring the situation under control.
SI Alauddin Talukder of the CMCH police outpost confirmed one gunshot victim but said those accompanying him were not providing clear information.
Khulshi Police Station officer-in-charge Shahinur Zaman said an investigation into the incident is underway and senior officials are at the spot.
