Sohag lost his life while trying to save a neighbor's house.

Gias Roni, Noakhali Correspondent: Md. Sohag (43) has died after suffering severe burns while trying to extinguish a fire at the home of a distant cousin in Sonaimuri, Noakhali.
He passed away early Saturday morning (October 10) while undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit Hospital in Dhaka. Sohag had sustained the burns on October 3 around 10:30 AM while attempting to put out a fire at the residence of Sultan Chokidar in East Kaluai village (Ward No. 8, Nadna Union).
The deceased, Sohag, was the son of Freedom Fighter Golam Mostafa, a resident of the same household. He was a father of three sons and one daughter.
According to local sources, the fire broke out on October 3 due to a gas cylinder explosion in the home of Sohag's distant cousin, Salauddin. The flames spread rapidly, gutting six houses in the compound. Upon seeing the fire, Sohag rushed to help extinguish it alongside others. At one point, while trying to remove a gas cylinder from Salauddin's house, he suffered burns covering 70 percent of his body. Locals rescued him in critical condition and admitted him to the Burn Unit Hospital in Dhaka, where he died after seven days of treatment.
Local Union Parishad (UP) member Md. Azgar Hossain Sohel stated that Sohag was unemployed and in dire financial straits. His death has cast a pall of gloom over the area.
Noman Hossain, a firefighter and duty officer at the Sonaimuri Fire Service Station, said that six houses were destroyed by the fire caused by the gas cylinder explosion that day. Sohag had joined others in the firefighting efforts upon hearing about the blaze. He sustained burns while attempting to retrieve furniture from one of the houses.
Md. Kabir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonaimuri Police Station, confirmed that Sohag's relatives reported his death while undergoing treatment in Dhaka. They have applied to take custody of the body without a post-mortem examination, and the Sonaimuri Police Station has submitted a report regarding this request. He suffered burns while trying to remove a gas cylinder from a room during the fire.
