At 11am on Friday (2 January), Mahanagar Sarbojaneen Puja Committee arranged a special prayer meeting at Dhakeshwari National Temple here, for eternal peace of the departed soul of Khaleda Zia.

Following the demise of Khaleda Zia, the government announced a three-day state mourning. During this period, the national flag is being kept at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous and educational institutions, as well as public and private buildings and Bangladesh missions abroad.

In addition, special prayers and Munajat were arranged at every mosque across the country on Wednesday seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia while special prayers were also offered at places of worship of other religions.
