SSC Results: English and Mathematics See Most Failures
Bangla Press Desk: English and Mathematics recorded the highest number of failures among SSC and equivalent examination candidates this year, while ICT had the highest number of successful students across the education boards.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the results at the Ministry of Education’s meeting room at the Secretariat on Monday (10 August).
An analysis of the results showed that the pass rate in English was 78.40% and in Mathematics 82.85% in the Dhaka Board. In the Rajshahi Board, the corresponding rates were 74.70% and 77.17%.
The Cumilla Board recorded pass rates of 81.29% in English and 81.75% in Mathematics, while the rates in the Jashore Board were 71.84% and 83.34%, respectively.
In the Chattogram Board, 72.27% of students passed English and 80.05% passed Mathematics. The corresponding figures were 69.24% and 77.98% in the Barishal Board, 69.11% and 75.96% in the Sylhet Board, and 72.91% and 71.05% in the Dinajpur Board.
The Mymensingh Board recorded pass rates of 66.64% in English and 69.61% in Mathematics. In the Madrasa Board, the rates were 79.21% and 69.97%, respectively, while the Technical Board recorded 94.79% in English and 70.92% in Mathematics.
Meanwhile, ICT emerged as the subject with the highest number of successful candidates across all boards.
The overall pass rate in the SSC and equivalent examinations fell to 62.25% this year, compared with 68.45% in 2025. A total of 116,676 students secured GPA-5 this year, down from 139,032 last year.
The nine general education boards recorded an average pass rate of 64.05%, compared with 68.04% last year, marking a decline of 3.99 percentage points.
