Students to Get Govt Support in Choosing Preferred Careers: Mahdi Amin

Bangla Press Desk:  The government will provide maximum support to students to pursue their preferred careers while helping them develop social values and intellectual abilities, said Prime Minister’s Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Mahdi Amin.

He made the remarks at a reception for meritorious Scouts and Rover Scouts who achieved GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, on Wednesday morning.The spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office said the government was committed to building a young generation that combines human values, strong family values and a deep sense of social responsibility.

“Through state support, talented students will play an important role as responsible citizens in serving the country in the future,” he said.

Mahdi Amin called for greater support and sponsorship from the central and state levels for Scouts who achieved outstanding results in the SSC and HSC examinations.

He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman wanted to build an education system and a Bangladesh that would not confine students to academic certificates but develop them into honest, competent and skilled human resources.

He also stressed the importance of practical education and social activities beyond textbook-based learning.

“We want an education system where students will not only gain knowledge from textbooks but also learn how to apply it effectively in real life,” Mahdi Amin said.

“Achieving good results or obtaining certificates is not the only measure of success in life. Alongside formal education, participation in extracurricular activities and social service is equally important for success in every sphere of life.”

He praised the Scouts and Rover Scouts for playing a leading role in social service activities alongside their outstanding academic performance.

Addressing the young people, he said, “By maintaining this commitment to becoming good citizens alongside your academic achievements, you will lead Bangladesh towards a better future.”

The adviser urged students to move beyond traditional career choices and develop their talents in fields they prefer.

“Prime Minister always says that everyone does not have to become a doctor or an engineer. It is not like that at all,” he said.

“If a student likes humanities or social sciences, drawing or other creative activities, sports, debating or science, the government will provide opportunities and support so that they can develop their talents and build successful careers in their chosen fields.”

Mahdi Amin expressed hope that a prosperous, humane and self-respecting Bangladesh would emerge under the leadership of talented young people.

Referring to the students honoured at the event as future leaders of Bangladesh, he urged them to make honesty, hard work, discipline and patriotism the foundations of their lives and work for the welfare of the people.

He said good results in public examinations were not the end but only the first step towards achieving bigger goals.

“Even when challenges or failures come in life, you must not become frustrated. You have to believe in yourselves,” he said, stressing the importance of using academic and personal achievements for the development of society and the country.

Recalling his own student days, Mahdi Amin said he had received awards several times from education ministers on stage for achieving good results in public examinations around two and a half decades ago.

He said the government would provide maximum support to help young people develop their talents and potential.

He expressed confidence that the meritorious students would be inspired by the reception, lead the country in the future and make Bangladesh proud on the global stage.

Mahdi Amin also assured the students that the Prime Minister and the government would continue to provide all-out support and encouragement to help them pursue their dreams and contribute to the country and its people.

He said the government was providing policy-level support to promote Scouting in Bangladesh and expand opportunities and facilities for Scouts.

Highlighting the importance of Scouting, he said senior policymakers and secretaries of the government were directly contributing to the overall development of Scouts, reflecting the government’s special importance attached to the organisation.

Bangladesh Scouts Chief National Commissioner and Prime Minister’s Office Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar chaired the programme.Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan, Bangladesh Scouts President and Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md Ehsanul Haque, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque, and Technical and Madrasa Education Division Secretary Md Daud Mia, among others, also spoke.

A total of 580 meritorious Scouts and Rover Scouts from 13 regions of Bangladesh Scouts attended the event. They received congratulatory letters, medals and their designated prize money.
