Bangla Press Desk: Former national cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal on Wednesday withdrew his candidacy in next week’s BCB elections.
He reached the BCB headquarters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and withdrew his nomination papers on the last day for withdrawing candidacy.
The elections are expected to be held on 6 October, when a pool of councilors from clubs across the country would select 23 out of 25 board members. The BCB president will also be elected through the polls.
It was highly expected that the former cricket icon would withdraw from the polls after the High Court halted the election participation of 15 clubs, which were seen as key to Tamim’s potential victory.
