Bangla Press Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inaugurated the July Uprising Memorial Museum.He unveiled the plaque at a ceremony on the museum premises, north of the parliament complex in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, on Wednesday.
Former chief advisor of the interim government Muhammad Yunus attended the ceremony.
After the inauguration, prayers were offered before Tarique toured the museum.
Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Aazam Khan and Information Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman, among others, were present.
Though formally inaugurated, the museum opens to the public from Thursday, with visitors able to enter by purchasing tickets.
An online ticketing system has been arranged for entry, with admission set at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children.
Ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India on Aug 5, 2024, as students and citizens rose up against her government.
Her official residence, Ganabhaban, was extensively vandalised and looted that day.
Yunus's interim government took office on Aug 8, 2024.
During its tenure, Ganabhaban was turned into the museum, preserving artefacts and memories from the Uprising.
