Tarique Rahman to visit Cox’s Bazar to pay tribute at martyr Wasim’s grave
Bangla Press Desk: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Cox’s Bazar on 18 January to pay respects at the grave of Wasim Akram, a martyr of the July mass uprising.
Cox’s Bazar district BNP publicity secretary Akhtar Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the information on Monday night.
He said, “If everything goes as planned, Tarique Rahman will visit Pekua to offer prayers at Wasim Akram’s grave.”
Ahead of the Cox’s Bazar visit, Tarique Rahman is set to travel to Bogura on 11 January, marking his first visit there in 19 years. The following day, on 12 January, he is expected to visit Rangpur to pay tribute at the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayed.
Wasim Akram was killed on 16 July 2024 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. He was fatally injured around 3pm amid clashes involving protesters, police and leaders of the Chhatra League in the Muradpur area of Chattogram.
Wasim was a third-year undergraduate student at Chattogram College and a member of the convening committee of Chattogram College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
