Tarique Rahman wants to visit graves of July uprising martyrs
Bangla Press Desk: BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman wants to visit the graves of those who were martyred during the July mass uprising, party Media Cell Convener Maudud Alamgir Pavel said.
He confirmed the matter while speaking to journalists on contemporary issues in Gulshan on Sunday.
Pavel said, “Tarique Rahman has returned to the country after 17 years and has formally begun office activities at the BNP chairperson’s office for the first time. Previously, he remained virtually connected with the office for a long period and is therefore fairly familiar with the environment.”
Responding to a question about whether Tarique Rahman would undertake any programmes outside Dhaka soon, Pavel said no specific plan has been finalised yet.
“However, I can give an indication that he wants to visit the graves of those who were martyred in the July uprising. There are also some other activities planned. There may be an opportunity for a formal interaction with media professionals, Insha’Allah,” he said.
Pavel further said the party’s seat-sharing process has been completed and that Monday is the final day for submitting nomination papers.
“Tarique Rahman will contest the election from two constituencies -- Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17,” he added.
