Taskin makes a big leap, climbing 9 spots in the ODI rankings
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed has made significant progress in the latest ICC ODI bowling rankings. Following an outstanding bowling performance against Zimbabwe in the ongoing tri-nation series, he has climbed nine spots to reach 12th place. Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has also moved up, advancing two places to secure the 11th position.
These changes are reflected in the latest rankings update from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Both Bangladeshi pacers improved their standings thanks to their performances in the tri-nation series—featuring Afghanistan and Zimbabwe—currently being held in the United Arab Emirates.
In the series opener, Taskin claimed three early wickets against Zimbabwe; however, despite his efforts, Bangladesh could not secure a victory.
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has further solidified his position at the top of the ODI bowling rankings. After taking 4 wickets for 17 runs against Zimbabwe, his rating points have risen to 742—placing him 80 points ahead of Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed (second) and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj (third).
In the batting rankings, young Afghan batter Sediqullah Atal has also made strides. Following a 102-run innings off 110 balls against Zimbabwe, he has jumped 12 places to reach 20th position.
Additionally, following the conclusion of a series in Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s Salman Agha and England’s Ben Duckett have improved their standings in the ODI batting rankings; Salman has moved up to 12th, while Duckett now sits in 13th place.
Changes have also occurred in the T20 rankings following the series between India and the West Indies. West Indies captain Shai Hope has climbed two spots to reach ninth place among batters, while his teammate Sherfane Rutherford has advanced six places to secure the 18th position. West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has climbed 10 spots in the T20I bowling rankings, moving up to 26th place in the latest list.
