Meanwhile, on her verified Facebook account, Tasnim wrote this evening, “Dear residents of Khilgaon, Sabujbagh, and Mugda, I am your daughter from this community. I was born and raised in Khilgaon. My dream was to serve the people of my area and the country by being elected to parliament through the platform of a political party. However, due to the current circumstances, I have decided not to contest the election as a candidate of any particular party or alliance.”
She wrote, “I had promised you and the country’s people that I would fight for you and to build a new political culture. Whatever the circumstances, I am determined to keep that promise. Therefore, I will run this election as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9.”
