Thalapathy Vijay’s group is now taking to the streets in protest.

Bangla Press Desk: 'Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam' (TVK)—the party founded by popular actor Thalapathy Vijay—is set to participate in national-level protest programs organized by India’s opposition alliance, the 'INDIA' bloc.
The party's involvement in the opposition alliance's initiatives—which include demands regarding the 'Special Intensive Revision' (SIR) process of the electoral rolls and the removal of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar—has sparked significant discussion within political circles.
Thol Thirumavalavan, leader of the 'Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi' (VCK), informed the media that TVK has recently joined the state chapter of the INDIA alliance in Tamil Nadu. Following this, the party participated in a protest organized by the alliance in Chennai, and there is a strong possibility that they will also take part in future national-level programs.
A section of the opposition has expressed concerns from the outset regarding the 'Special Intensive Revision' (SIR) process for electoral rolls, fearing that it could lead to the exclusion of many eligible voters. Furthermore, they have demanded the removal of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
By participating in these initiatives, TVK’s position within Tamil Nadu’s political landscape is becoming increasingly clear. On October 3, TVK took part in a state-level meeting alongside parties such as the Congress, CPM, CPI, VCK, and MDMK. During the meeting, discussions were held on organizing protests against the BJP-led government and addressing the SIR process, while TVK was formally welcomed into the alliance. Subsequently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited actor Vijay at his residence in Chennai—a meeting that has further accelerated the political alignment between the two sides. It is worth noting that TVK, launched by actor Vijay in 2024, aims to establish itself as a formidable political alternative in Tamil Nadu. While this association with the INDIA bloc expands the party’s political reach, the full extent of TVK’s ultimate role within this alliance in national politics remains to be seen.
