‘The Difficult Bride’ secures Venice Film Festival premiere
Bangla Press Desk: Writer, director and producer Rubaiyat Hossain’s fourth feature film, “The Difficult Bride”, has been selected for the Orizzonti Competition of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
The film will have its world premiere at the festival, which will take place in Venice, Italy, from 2 to 12 September.
With this selection, “The Difficult Bride” will become the first feature-length film from Bangladesh to participate in the Venice International Film Festival.
The Difficult Bride is a psychological horror film set around Mayfair, a historic beauty salon in Dhaka.

The story follows Zaineen, a young woman who arrives at the salon to prepare for her wedding. As the preparations unfold, she is gradually drawn into an unsettling and mysterious world shaped by beauty, the body, faith, memory and fear.
Zaineen Chowdhury Karim plays the lead role in “The Difficult Bride”. Rikita Nondine Shimu and Sunerah Kamal appear in supporting roles. Azmeri Haque Badhon and Dameer Khan make guest appearances.
The film also features distinguished Bangladeshi actors Shatabdi Wadud, Saberi Alam and Mohammed Bari in important roles.
