The government aims to generate 24,000 megawatts of electricity by 2030.

Bangla Press Desk: State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam has announced a target to generate 24,000 megawatts of electricity by 2030.
He made this statement today, Saturday (October 10), at a meeting held at the Cooperative Building in the capital's Agargaon area.
The State Minister stated that a target has been set to generate 4,000 megawatts of solar power and supply it to the national grid by next February. If the government purchases this electricity, it will be possible to bridge the current gap between supply and the 14,000 to 18,000-megawatt demand.
He further added that if the plan succeeds after February, the government expects an end to load-shedding in the country.
The State Minister mentioned that electricity generated via solar panels and supplied to the national grid by next February would fetch a rate of Tk 10.50 per unit.
This benefit will remain in effect until 2028, after which the electricity price may drop to between Tk 6 and Tk 7 per unit.
He also noted that it is possible to generate revenue by installing solar panels on the large rooftops of educational institutions and supplying the generated electricity to the national grid. Specifically, supplying electricity to the grid on Fridays, Saturdays, and during periods when educational institutions are closed would create opportunities for additional income.
