Trump reveals at rally why Melania calls him ‘Sir’
Bangla Press Desk: At a campaign rally in Texas, US President Donald Trump stated that his wife, Melania, does not call him by his first name—or even by any affectionate nickname. Instead, she addresses him as "Sir."
Trump made these remarks on Wednesday (October 7) while campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton in Texas.
While addressing the rally, Trump spoke about Paxton's rival, Democratic candidate James Talarico. At one point, he reiterated the claim that Talarico is a vegan—meaning he does not consume meat or animal products—a claim Talarico has repeatedly denied.
Trump brought up Melania while discussing the pronunciation of the word "vegan." He recounted how she had once corrected him on how to say it. According to Trump, Melania told him, "Sir, I need to do you a favor—it’s not pronounced *that* way, it’s pronounced *this* way."
Trump then went on to label Talarico a vegan again, jokingly remarking that Talarico only wants to eat a bit of lettuce. He further claimed that Talarico is forced to eat meat for political reasons and has fallen ill as a result, noting that Talarico had to attend barbecue events and consume meat for his election campaign.
However, Talarico has never identified himself as a vegan or vegetarian. This narrative from Republicans stems from comments he made regarding the need to reduce meat consumption to combat climate change. In response, Talarico has stated that he has been eating barbecue for a long time.
Meanwhile, recent polls show Talarico leading against Paxton in the Texas Senate race. A recent Siena College poll placed Talarico ahead with 51 percent support compared to Paxton's 45 percent, while a Fox News poll also showed him leading by a margin of 51 to 49. This election is crucial for Democrats in Texas; the last Democrat to win a Senate election there was Lloyd Bentsen in 1988. A victory for Talarico could pave the way for a major political comeback for Democrats in Texas after a long hiatus. Source: The Independent
