Trump wants to change ‘AI’ to ‘SI’—why is Slovenia being discussed?
Bangla Press Desk: Through an executive order, U.S. President Donald Trump has mandated the use of the term "Super Intelligence" (SI) instead of the widely recognized "Artificial Intelligence" (AI) within government agencies. This rebranding has not only sparked discussion within the tech world, but has also thrust the small European nation of Slovenia into the global spotlight—all because its national internet domain extension is ".si."
Following the announcement of this new term, there has been an unusual surge in global demand for Slovenia’s ".si" domain. According to the country’s domain registration data, thousands of new domains have been registered since the introduction of the "SI" acronym.
Much like how the Caribbean island nation of Anguilla’s ".ai" domain is extensively used by artificial intelligence-related companies and startups, a competition has now emerged among various tech firms and "cybersquatters" to secure Slovenia’s ".si" domain, driven by Trump’s adoption of the "SI" terminology.
This sudden global interest has created a significant economic opportunity for Slovenia’s domain market and has become a major topic of discussion.
