Two Die in Bogura Road Accident

Bangla Press Desk: At least two people, including the driver of a microbus, have been killed in a head-on collision with a truck in Bogura’s Shajahanpur.

Seven others were injured in the crash that occurred around 4 am on Thursday on the Bogura-Dhaka highway, according to Aiyub Ali, chief of the Sherpur Highway Police Camp, reports bdnews24.com.

The dead were microbus driver Ferdous Mondol, 25, son of Faruk Mondol of Gopinathpur village in Akkelpur Upazila of Joypurhat, and passenger Zubayedul Islam, 30, son of Hasher Ali of Barail village in the same Upazila.

According to witnesses, seven relatives were travelling by microbus to Akkelpur from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka after receiving a family member returning from abroad.

When the vehicle reached the Noymile bus stand area early in the morning, it entered the opposite lane of the highway and collided head-on with a corn-laden truck coming from the other direction.

The microbus was severely damaged in the crash, killing Ferdous and Zubayedul at the scene.

Aiyub said police and Fire Service personnel went to the scene after being informed and recovered the two bodies.

The seven injured passengers were rescued and taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

Police recovered both vehicles from the scene, and legal proceedings are under way, he said.
