UN High Commissioner for Refugees meets the Prime Minister

Bangla Press Desk: UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Barham Salih paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tareq Rahman.
The meeting took place on Tuesday (September 22) at the 'Hyatt Grand Central New York' in New York, USA.
Discussions during the meeting focused on a sustainable solution to the long-standing Rohingya crisis, the creation of an environment conducive to the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar, and the effective and coordinated role of the international community in this regard.
Prime Minister Tareq Rahman stated that Bangladesh has long been sheltering a large number of Rohingyas on humanitarian grounds. There is no alternative to the safe and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to their homeland for a permanent solution to the crisis. More effective and coordinated initiatives from the international community are required to achieve this goal.
Emphasis was placed on strengthening international cooperation to accelerate the repatriation process while continuing humanitarian assistance for the Rohingyas.
Barham Salih commended Bangladesh's humanitarian role in sheltering the Rohingyas and highlighted the importance of sustained international cooperation toward a lasting solution to the crisis.
