Bangla Press Desk: US President Donald Trump remarked that the new oil agreement between the United States and Venezuela would be highly beneficial for both Washington and Caracas, while also driving down global fuel prices.
He made these comments while addressing the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Trump stated that the US is working very closely with Venezuela's current leadership to build a bright future for the Venezuelan people.
In his speech, Trump noted that the two sides had signed the largest oil deal in history last month. This agreement, involving 65 billion barrels of oil, would offer immense benefits to both the US and Venezuela and help reduce global fuel costs—positive effects of which are already becoming apparent.
According to the US President, the United States and Venezuela together control more than 60 percent of the world's total oil reserves.
Turning to the subject of artificial intelligence (AI), Trump said that the US aims to encourage modern technological innovation rather than imposing strict regulations on AI development.
He observed that any major new technology brings challenges for humanity, and superintelligence—or highly advanced AI—is no exception.
However, taking a dig at critics regarding climate change and AI, Trump added that the very people who previously stoked excessive fear about climate change—even as the earth was cooling rather than warming and no one was dying—are the same ones now claiming that AI will destroy us, robots will attack, and everything is heading toward a catastrophe.
