WASA Employee Killed in Road Crash While Performing Duty
Bangla Press Desk: An employee of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) was killed after being struck by a vehicle while on duty in Mirpur of the capital.
The accident occurred at Senpara around 6:00am on Tuesday (25 August).The deceased was Shamim, 47. He had worked for the WASA for nearly 25 years, carrying out his duties in the Senpara and water pump areas. His family home is in Paikhonda Baradia village, Bera upazila, in Pabna district.
According to local residents and eyewitnesses, Shamim was struck by a vehicle while on duty in the morning, sustaining serious injuries from which he later died.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kafrul Police Station, Md Saiful Islam, said: "On receiving news of the accident, police went to the scene and completed the necessary legal procedures. The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy."
He added that efforts were underway to identify the vehicle and driver responsible, and that legal action would be taken once they had been identified.
Meanwhile, Shamim's colleagues at the Dhaka WASA are said to be in mourning following his death, with a sense of grief spreading among his co-workers.
