We fear manipulation in vote counting: Chhatra Dal-backed VP candidate
Bangla Press Desk:   Sheikh Sadi Hasan, Vice President (VP) candidate from the Chhatra Dal-backed panel, has accused the election commission of biased behavior in the ongoing JUCSU and hall union elections. Speaking at an urgent press conference held at Maulana Bhasani Hall around 1:00 pm on Thursday, four hours after voting began, Sheikh Sadi expressed concerns over the fairness of the polls. He said the Chhatra Dal-supported panel had high hopes of winning due to strong backing from general students. In a written statement, Sheikh Sadi alleged that a company linked to Jamaat-e-Islami supplied the ballot papers and OMR machines for vote counting without following proper procurement procedures. He claimed this was done deliberately to favor the Chhatra Shibir panel.
He further raised concerns about vote counting, saying, “We feared manipulation in vote counting. Later, when the issue became public and pressure mounted from teachers and students, the election commission immediately changed the vote counting method from OMR machines to manual voting. However, the elections are still being held using the same company’s ballot papers.” Sheikh Sadi Hasan also accused the university administration of allowing the Chhatra Shibir panel to prepare separate ballot papers with a blue design to manipulate the results and secure victory. The allegations come amid heightened scrutiny over election transparency and fairness at the university, with students and observers closely monitoring the process.
