Bangla Press Desk: National Film Award-winning actress Toma Mirza has expressed her anger and protest on social media over the murder of seven-year-old student Ramisa Akhtar in the capital's Pallavi.
Taking a strong stand against heinous crimes like rape and murder, the actress has demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrators at the earliest.
In a post on her verified Facebook on Thursday (May 21), Toma Mirza wrote that the rapist will be tried by the rape victim before her funeral. It will be such a trial that these vile, mentally ill criminals will not even dream of committing a crime.
In the post, the actress also raised strong objections to the lawyers standing on behalf of the rapists. She asked, "What investigation? What explanation? What lawyer on behalf of the rapist? What a waste of time?"
Comparing Ramisa to her own sister, Toma Mirza urged everyone to speak out against this injustice. In her words, "Ramisa is my sister, your sister. We want justice for the brutal killer of our sister.’
Incidentally, Sohel Rana, the accused in the rape and murder of child Ramisa, confessed to the crime and gave a statement in court. He said in his statement that he had taken Yaba before the incident.
