What the State Minister said about the road collapse during his inspection
State Minister Mir Shahe Alam.
Sreepur (Gazipur) Correspondent: State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam said, I have come to inspect the damaged road on the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. About three kilometers of the road has become a canal. 83 meters of the canal road has been damaged. This part of the road has collapsed due to the weakness of the soil downstream.
In response to a question from journalists, the State Minister said, in fact, to respect a graveyard next to the road, the road had to be moved a little more towards the canal. Due to which a part of the road has collapsed.
He said these things after inspecting the damaged paved road on the Rajabari-Damdama road in Rajabari Union of Sreepur Upazila on Saturday (July 4) afternoon.
He also said, there is a graveyard next to it. It could have been moved. There are instructions in the Hadith and Quran in this regard. At the same time, land acquisition was also possible. But some of the neighbors may not have allowed the trees to be cut. As a result, LGED could not make a proper plan. We have taken up a new plan. The road will be built firmly.
Present at the event were Gazipur-3 MP Professor SM Rafiqul Islam, Sreepur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nahid Bhuiyan, LGED's Dhaka Division's Important Road Widening and Strengthening Project Project Project Director Babul Akhtar and senior administration officials.Source: jugantor
