"What would you do if this happened to your mother or sister?" asks Mehazabien.

Bangla Press Desk: Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury has termed the act of using artificial intelligence (AI) to create false and baseless content about an individual—with the intent to socially disparage them—as a crime. She has also raised questions regarding the sense of responsibility among social media users who propagate such malicious content.
On Thursday (October 15), Mehazabien Chowdhury shared her stance on the matter via a post on her verified Facebook page. Her statement is presented here in full for the readers of *Jugantor*:
"Creating false and fabricated content about someone using AI, and disseminating it with the intent to humiliate them, is not 'entertainment'—it is a crime. When such content is shared by hundreds or even thousands of people, the issue transcends the actions of a single individual; it reflects a much larger social problem. It forces us to ask: what kind of society have we become?
At this point, I don’t even feel like resorting to the old cliché—'Just imagine if this happened to your own mother or sister!'
After all, why must someone be a member of our own family for us to accord them the basic respect due to any human being?
All for the sake of a few views, likes, shares, or a spot on the 'trending' list—perhaps even earning a few dollars in the process. I understand that life is a struggle, and for many, creating content has become a means of livelihood. I do not wish to deny that reality. But the question remains: when did the humiliation and degradation of another human being become a legitimate source of income for us?
Furthermore, this is no longer an issue confined to any specific gender. The race for views, engagement, and trending status has transcended gender boundaries. Anyone can become a participant in spreading such harmful material, just as anyone can fall victim to it.
What concerns me most is not just the person creating such content, but the countless others who willingly share it, discuss it, and propagate it to thousands more." ‘You might want to consider whether, by participating in a criminal’s offense, you would be demonstrating a lack of conscience.’
