Trump wrote, "Her record of support is impeccable." He further noted that Zakaria is a dedicated supporter of the "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement. Trump also expressed hope that she would deliver positive results for the United States in her new role.
A resident of California, Zakaria earned her undergraduate and law degrees from Pepperdine University in Malibu; this information is listed on her LinkedIn profile.
Earlier this year, she worked briefly as a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Subsequently, she began serving as a senior communications advisor for Trump's social media platform, Truth Social. She also assisted with Trump's election campaign.
The news of Zakaria's nomination as the new Press Secretary was first reported by *The New York Times*.
Zakaria's support for Trump's political movement, "Make America Great Again," has also been evident in her public statements.
In an opinion piece published in the *New York Post* this past February, she recounted an experience involving a hat supporting Trump that she wore at her gym. Zakaria claimed that the gym owner had asked her not to wear the hat.
In protest, she wrote that she would never remove the Trump hat just to appease leftists. In her view, freedom of speech does not end at the gym door. The White House Press Secretary position had been vacant since Karoline Leavitt stepped down in late August. By selecting Zaccaria for the role, Trump is bringing a close supporter into a key communications position within the administration.
