Bangla Press Desk: The National Sports Council (NSC) announced the formation of the ad-hoc committee for the Dhaka District Sports Council on Wednesday.
Formed under section 2(15) of the National Sports Council Act 2018, the seven-member committee includes the District Commissioner as the convener and the District Sports Officer as the member secretary.
The committee features notable figures from the country’s sports fraternity, including former national cricketers Javed Omar Belim and Shathira Jakir Jessy. Other members are hockey organiser Md Yusuf Ali, archery organiser Md Anisur Rahman, sports organiser Tarek Ahmed Adel, students’ representative Fardeen Hasan, and sports journalist Md Arifur Rahman.
Jessy participated in two ODIs and one T20I for Bangladesh women’s national team. She is the country’s first international women umpire, and has already officiated over 30 international matches including Under-19 Women’s World Cup 2025, Women’s Asia Cup and Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2025.
