National Desk: Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif has said that the health condition of Obaidul Quader, minister for road transport and bridges, currently undergoing treatment in Singapore, is improving.
Referring to BNP’s accusation that party chairperson Khaleda Zia is not being given proper treatment, Hanif said, “The treatment of the two cannot be compared; Quader is a valiant freedom fighter while Khaleda is a pro Pakistani, imprisoned for a crime.”
Khaleda Zia’s treatment is not a matter for the government or party, it has to be decided by the prison authority, he said.
Referring to a phone conversation with Singapore, Hanif said. “Obaidul Quader’s health is improving and once he comes back to normal condition, a bypass surgery will be carried out.”
BNP is a political bankrupt party, he said adding, “No one is concerned about their programmes or activities anymore.”
Hanif also welcomed the decision of the Gano Forum members to take oath and called on the BNP elected to come and join parliament.
