Expatriate reciter Mizan Pradhan lost his father

Staff Reporter : Abdul Wahed Prodhan, father of Mizanur Rahman Pradhan, a popular reciter in New York, has died. For a long time he was suffering from old age. He breathed his last at his residence in Chandina, Comilla district on Saturday (April 10) local time (Innalillahi — Rajeun). He was 85 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters, grandchildren and numerous relatives.

Late Abdul Wahed Prodhan started his career in the Dhaka Public Health Department. Most recently, he retired as the District Health Superintendent of the Civil Surgeon’s Office, Cumilla District. Despite having his own house in Gulshan, Dhaka, Abdul Wahed Prodhan chose Chandina in Cumilla to live. While he was alive, he extended his hand of cooperation to many people in various ways including providing jobs. He used to encourage the common people and the new generation to be well educated. Locally he was known as ‘Sanitary Saheb’. Abdul Wahed was also an expert in solving various social problems of the local people.
Abdul Wahed’s son Mizanur Rahman Prodhan has been living in Albany, New York for a long time. Mizan Pradhan is well known as a reciter in the literary arena of New York. Mizan’s wife Farhana Poly is a budding poet and writer. Mizanur Rahman Prodhan has prayed for his father to all in the country and abroad.
